The National Institute of Health’s Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) of Zinc is 40 mg. This is the “maximum daily intake unlikely to cause adverse health effects.” Some AREDS 2 brands use double this level (80 mg)!
The AREDS 2 Study tested both 80 mg of 25 mg of zinc. Investigators found NO significant changes in effectiveness of the formulation when lowering the zinc to 25 mg.
Too much zinc can cause nausea, interference with certain antibiotics & antivirals, stomach pains, high rate of UTIs & kidney stones, and inhibit absorption of iron & copper which leads to anemia and neurological damage.

I began taking these on the recommendation of my opthomologist. I’m so glad I found these online: the price is right and I like having a three month supply delivered to my door. I’ve had a number of problems with my eyes over the years and am doing whatever I can to preserve my vision. Hopefully taking Viteyes AREDS2 will be something I can rely on for years.
I take these twice a day to help with the health of my eyes. I feel that since taking these my eyes have improves and so does my Doc.

I’ve been taking these for a couple of years, and my eyesight (very early stages of macular degeneration) has been stable. The omega-3s have also alleviated my symptoms of dry eyes. The auto-ship is very convenient, too.
